My Life in Sydney – Semester Abroad at ICMS
Hello everyone!
I‘m 23 years old and currently living my absolute dream: spending my semester abroad at the International College of Management in Sydney. Australia isn‘t a new place for me. Three years ago, I was here for a Work and Travel adventure. I travelled around the country for several months, worked in different places, and collected countless wonderful memories. During that time, I completely fell in love with Australia – the nature, the ocean, the openness of the people, and this special joy for life that you can feel everywhere here. Even back then I knew: I have to come back one day. Now I‘m actually here again, happier than ever.
What I especially love about Australia is the friendliness and calmness of the people. Australians are incred-ibly open, helpful, and always in a good mood. Even if you don‘t know an English word or express your-self awkwardly, no one looks at you strangely. Rather the opposite, everyone is understanding and support-ive. I can feel how my English is improving every day, simply through conversations with friends, class-mates, or while working. Life here just feels more relaxed overall. With all the sunshine, the closeness to the ocean, and the positive atmosphere, everything feels slower and more balanced. I think Australia is the per-fect place for a semester abroad. You learn so much, yet everything feels easy at the same time.

My daily routine looks like this: During the week, I have university on two to three days. I usually get up early and either work out or go for a short walk before classes start. Lectures usually run from eight to elev-en-thirty, sometimes until three. For lunch, we often eat together on campus or at a café, and afterwards I ei-ther go to work or straight to the beach to make the most of the good weather. In the evenings, I usually meet friends for dinner, chatting, or simply to enjoy the sunset.

One of the best feelings is that I‘ve been able to reconnect with some friends from my Work and Travel time. We stayed in touched over the years and spending time together here again is just amazing. I truly en-joy meeting so many different cultures here. Students at ICMS are from all over the world and it‘s exciting to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and experience life in Sydney together.
I‘m incredibly grateful to have this opportunity and honestly, it already makes me a little sad to think about having to go home one day.
