How to apply for a study abroad semester at ICMS
The International Student Office in Darmstadt is the direct European office of the ICMS and will be happy to assist you throughout the entire application process. You should submit your application 4 to 6 months before your desired start date. If you have planned to complete a semester abroad at ICMS, please contact the International Office of your home university too and inform yourself about internal deadlines and regulations.
Your ICMS application step by step
1. Choose your study program at ICMS
Depending on the study program, there are various dates on which you can start your study abroad:

2. Send the following documents for your application at ICMS via mail to our European office in Darmstadt:

You can fill in the form offline or online. If you fill in the form online please print your application and send the signed document to our office.
Proof of English Proficiency
The English certificate for ICMS can either be a TOEFL iBT or IELTS test in English with a stamp and signature from your university. Again, we need the original or a certified copy.
Official University Transcript in English
Certificates or Grade overview in English (with signature and stamp of the home university) – For a complete Bachelor’s degree or Gap Year in Australia we need your High School certificate in English. The grade overview or the certificate must be submitted as an original or as a certified copy.
Please provide a valid passport copy (copy of valid ID is preliminary sufficient).
3. After submitting your application successfully:
Fill in and return your Letter of Offer
As soon as all your application documents have been received and checked, we will send you your Letter of Offer. Please fill in the pages stated below and send them back as original to the address of the European Office of ICMS.
- Acceptance Declaration as original
- Confirmation of Enrolment Request as original
- Streamlined Visa Process as original – only page 1-3 (Genuine Temporary Entrant Declaration)
Please pay the deposit or tuition fees as indicated in the Letter of Offer and send a confirmation of the payment to our office. A simple copy of the bank confirmation is sufficient.

4. Letter of Acceptance:
Once the documents have been received, we will check again if they are correct and complete. Afterwards we will send you your Letter of Acceptance and your Confirmation of Enrolment.
5. Health insurance
You can organize Overseas Student Health Cover Insurance (OSHC) yourself or apply for it through ICMS. In order to apply for the OSHC via ICMS, you must tick the corresponding box in your Confirmation of Enrolment Request (CoE Request). You will receive the CoE Request along with your letter of offer after your complete ICMS application has been received. The insurance can be arranged via ICMS from one week before the start of the studies until the end of the student visa.
