The small neighboring towns such as Tustin, Santa Ana and Costa Mesa also offer a promising selection of experiences. Those looking for more variety and metropolitan flair will find numerous entertainment options in nearby cities such as Los Angeles and San Diego
The Westcliff University campus
Westcliff University is very different from traditional universities with sprawling campuses seen in movies. It is a small university with no attached housing and no cafeteria. The majority of students live in nearby apartment complexes, which are designed for student living. The actual student life therefore takes place off campus and requires students to take the initiative. The university, which is located in an attractive office building, is modern and well equipped. Due to its small size, there is a very personal and friendly atmosphere here, with direct and close communication between lecturers and students. This closeness creates an environment conducive to learning, in which it is easy to exchange ideas and support each other.
Student life
Due to the small size of the campus, there are various clubs and activities outside that are directly or indirectly part of Westcliff University. The Student Life Center regularly organizes events and trips that provide a great opportunity to meet other students and make new friends.
The surrounding area: beaches and shopping
In addition to the beautiful beaches such as Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach, which offer numerous leisure activities such as surfing, sunbathing and relaxing walks along the coast, Irvine also has excellent shopping opportunities. The Irvine Spectrum Center is a large shopping mall with numerous stores, restaurants and entertainment options. Fashion Island in Newport Beach is also a great shopping destination, offering quality brand name products and beautiful surroundings. A highlight in Irvine is the South Coast Plaza, one of the largest and most luxurious shopping centers in the USA. Here you will find over 250 stores, including exclusive designer boutiques such as Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, as well as popular brands such as Apple and H&M.

A real insider tip is the Shake Shack in Crystal Cove, where you can enjoy a delicious burger or a refreshing milkshake with a breathtaking sea view. The directly adjacent Newport Beach offers the option of a stroll or a campfire on the beach.
Costs and support
It is important to mention that living in Irvine generates high costs. Rents and living costs are sometimes significantly higher than in Germany. For a semester abroad at Westcliff University, German students can apply for support such as Auslands-BAföG or a funded scholarship.
Flexible study options
Westcliff University offers its students flexible start dates 6 times a year, which allows for a study period adapted to the German semester. Bachelor students can take 4-6 courses, Master students usually take between 3 and 5 courses and can choose from a wide range of courses.
