Hello future students at Westcliff University!
Let me share an unforgettable moment from a day trip to San Diego organized by the University's Center for Student Life. Student Life strives to create a pleasant campus environment and new opportunities for interaction with other students. If you would like to be part of our active university community, read on to learn about the exciting and educational experiences that await you.
San Diego Harbour Adventures
We met at the idyllic San Diego Harbor, which was bustling with life and the ideal starting point for the day. The charming Seaport Village immediately captivated us with its variety of shops and inviting restaurants which encourage exploration. The lively atmosphere was enhanced by street performers, and the place exuded an irresistible energy. We drove along the beach to the famous and memorable Broadway Pier. The panoramic view of the bay was simply breathtaking, so we took our time to look around and take photos. The centerpiece of the port area is the "Unconditional Surrender", also known as the "Kissing Statue". This large work of art represents the end of World War II and stands as a powerful symbol of hope and glory. Our next stop was a visit of the USS Midway Museum. It offers a fascinating insight into the ship's history and the rare opportunity to board an aircraft carrier and watch the jets from afar. It brought history to life in a way that textbooks rarely do.
La Jolla‘s Coastal Beauty
After touring the harbor, we headed to La Jolla, a charming area famous for its stunning coastline and diverse marine life. It was truly impressive to see where the rocks and the sea meet. We headed to La Jolla Cove, and some of us even got to see sea lions on the rocks. La Jolla's picturesque streets and quaint shops were the perfect setting for a relaxing day. We had a great lunch at a nearby restaurant and enjoyed the excellent seafood that the area is known for. The ideal combination of delicious food and impressive views made our stay in La Jolla very memorable. It was a magnificent place that combined the feel of a beach location with a city neighborhood.
Historic San Diego Old Town
Our final destination was a visit of the scenic Old Town of San Diego. As we wandered around the colorful streets, we immersed ourselves in the diverse history and culture of early California. A rich cultural experience is created by historic buildings, lively markets and authentic Mexican food. We visited several historic buildings and museums, each offering a different perspective of the city's history. The Old Town San Diego State Historic Park stood out for its informative exhibits and well-preserved antiques. A wonderful way to end our daytrip and transmit a multi-faceted view of San Diego's cultural heritage.
Conclusion
We organized a fun, educational and culturally interesting daytrip to San Diego from the university's Student Life Center. The bustling harbor, the quiet beauty of La Jolla and the old- fashioned charm of the Old Town were all very enjoyable and full of discovery. Such outings are part of student life, but not compulsory if you are thinking about studying at our university. However, they will make your stay more enjoyable and create lasting connections and memories. We are very happy to welcome you and share many more unforgettable experiences with us!
