Hawaii Trip

Report by Christian D.

Lots of people around the world are dreaming of the islands of Hawaii. If you’re in San Diego, Oahu, Maui and the other islands are as close as nowhere else. From San Diego you fly only 5-6 hours and then you are in paradise. For the Californians and San Diegans, Hawaii is one of their main vacation targets. This is the reason why lots of them have already been to Hawaii.

Flights to Hawaii

If you plan to visit the “Aloha State” it is very important that you start looking on the internet for flights very early. I recommend that you figure out different dates where you can visit one of the islands. Watch for the cheapest flights for those dates and I’m sure you will find a roundtrip flight for roughly 400$ or less. This actually takes a bit of time. We searched the internet for one and a half months until we found our perfect flight. If you do not know which island you should choose, just read some reports in the internet. There are lots of websites where you could find tips and recommendations.

Oahu

Oahu, the main island where the capital Honolulu is located is a very touristic island. Maui, Big Island and Kauai are not that touristic and have more natural sights. If you learned to surf in San Diego you might think Hawaii is the paradise for you, but you won’t find waves in Hawaii like in the finest city. We were one week on Maui, on the north-west coast of the island they had very high waves which were like 8-9 feet, those were too high and our skills weren’t good enough. On the south there weren’t any waves. But we enjoyed snorkeling on Maui.

Snorkeling

Just rent a complete snorkel set in a store and enjoy snorkeling. We actually saw lots of fishes and some turtles. Another recommendation is to rent a car when you are on one of the islands. If you’re on Oahu you could visit Peal Harbor, on Maui you have to watch the sunrise on Haleakala. Maui offers a lot of things that are not that touristic. There live a lot of pensioners but it is really nice there. Maui is perfect for a one week trip, if you would like to spend more time in Hawaii you’ve to do island hopping and visit other islands.
If you have enough money and time you should look for some flights and visit the “Aloha state”, I had an awesome time in Maui and it was a completely new experience.
