Pacific Beach

Report by Isabel S.

Pacific beach is a beautiful district north of downtown San Diego. The district is located right along the beach, as you might have already guessed, and is just a beautiful place to live. The neighborhood is really nice with clean streets and modern houses. The general atmosphere is a little bit more relaxed than San Diego Downtown because of the beautiful nature. You can reach the beach from almost everywhere by foot in fifteen minutes and there are some beautiful bays as well.

What to do at Pacific Beach

Due to the presence of the ocean, water sport is really prevalent. You always see people in the water surfing, wake-boarding, stand up paddling or just in their boats. On the beach there are also many volleyball nets where you and your friends can hang out and play some volley ball. The mission boulevard has some nice surf shops where you can buy cute surf fashion and can also rent all the things you need to spend a day at the beach.

There are many surfboard and bike rentals. Another really nice aspect about the beaches are the beach promenades where you can just stroll or ride your beach cruiser. On Garnet Avenue you can find many nice restaurants, shops and everything fun to look at. There are great sushi places but you can also find burgers and taco bars. At nighttime it gets even more crowded as most of the clubs and bars are also located on Garnet Avenue.

Shopping in Pacific Beach

PB does not have a Walmart or Target but you can buy all your groceries at Ralphs or CVS, so there is no need to drive to downtown to do your groceries.
PB is located just south of La Jolla district so you can reach this part of San Diego in about 15 minutes. There is also a direct freeway to downtown so you just need around 15 minutes to the city center, too, depending on the traffic situation.

Pacific Beach definitely has some beautiful beaches just like Mission Beach. The sunset cliffs are also not far from here so you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset every night. If they are still too far for you, don’t worry the sunset is beautiful on the PB beaches as well.
In case you might get bored in PB – which is not very likely – just visit Sea World. They are right in the middle of PB and you can see some great attractions there.
It is really beautiful to just drive the PB streets with they palm trees and see the ocean at the end of the road. So for living in San Diego I would definitely recommend to take Pacific Beach into consideration!
