Three days in Seattle

Three days in Seattle

Seattle is about a three-hour drive from Vancouver and is perfect for a long weekend. So we took the ferry to Vancouver early in the morning and then headed towards the US border. There was a checkpoint there, so you should allow a little more time.

When we arrived in Seattle, we first drove to a fast food chain called Dick's, which a professor had recommended to us. Dick's is reminiscent of a fast food restaurant from the 1950s and is definitely worth an experience. We continued on to our Airbnb, fortified by milkshakes and burgers.

Day 1

We started the next day at Pike Place Market. The donuts from Daily Dozen are highly recommended – It's worth waiting in line! Another attraction is the famous fishmonger, where the staff throw the fish across the stall as soon as a customer orders a fish.

Right next to the market is the very first Starbucks. However, we found it less impressive. Instead, we recommend the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, which has its own roastery and even offers cocktails.

For a beautiful view over Seattle, we visited the Sky View Observatory, which is slightly cheaper than the Space Needle. From there you have a good view of the city and the Space Needle.

In the afternoon, we went to a Seattle Redhawks basketball game, which we can also highly recommend. Admission was only 25 dollars and with cheerleaders and a big band, it felt like being in an American high school film.

Day 2

On our second day in Seattle, we visited the Fremont Sunday Market and the Winter Market in the morning. The Fremont Sunday Market takes place every Sunday and is a weekly market in the Fremont neighbourhood. There were stalls with handmade arts and crafts, vintage fashion, antiques and delicious food stalls.

We then travelled to Kerry Park. The small park offers one of the best views of the Seattle skyline and the Space Needle, with Mount Rainier in the background, which you can see in good weather.

In the evening we visited the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP). The museum is an impressive building located right next to the Space Needle. There are exciting exhibitions about various bands and films.

Day 3

On the day of our departure, we visited the Museum of Flight. There is a large collection of old aeroplanes and a few space objects. Some of the aeroplanes can also be viewed from the inside. Finally, we made one last stop at Dick's before heading home for good.
