Study abroad student experiences

Orientation Week
VIU’s orientation week took place over four days at the end of August.
It was particularly important to register in advance for the international orientation week called “RockVIU.” Each day, we received emails about the upcoming events, so nobody missed out on anything.

Weekend in Vancouver
We spent the first weekend of October in Vancouver, where we attended a preseason hockey game, went shopping and did some sightseeing. The city offers an impressive mix of natural experiences, cultural highlights, and culinary delights.

Day trip to Victoria
Victoria really is a beautiful city and ideal for a day trip. It is about 1.5 hours from Nanaimo and is easily accessible by car.

Nature around Nanaimo
The Colliery Dam Park, Westwood Lake, Neck Point Park and Mount Benson are beautiful places to enjoy Canada´s nature, all closely to Nanimo, where the VIU is located.
