The Best Coffee Places in Manly

Report by Laura B.

Best Coffee Places in Manly! After having spent just a few days in Australia I could already tell that Australians apparently love coffee and have a distinctive coffee culture. Even in the smallest coffee shops you will probably find a professional espresso machine and a huge variety of different types of coffee to choose from. At first sight, the options might be a bit overwhelming and the choice therefore a bit complicated. A long black for example is an espresso filled up with hot water. A short white consists of an espresso and milk but with less foam than a cappuccino.  Backyard of Belgrave Cartel Café_klein

Of course, you shouldn’t miss something sweet with your coffee; I’d recommend toasted banana bread with salted butter which you can find in almost every coffee place. If you want a special breakfast, there is a big variety to choose from in most of the cafés. A lot of them offer breakfast all day long and serve, for example, Bircher Muesli, Sourdough Bread with avocado or poached eggs. So if you would like to explore the Australian coffee culture in Manly, you should definitely check out the following coffee places during your stay.

The Belgrave Cartel Café (6 Belgrave Street)

The Belgrave is not only a coffee place with a very cosy ambience; it is also a wine-bar, a tapas-bar as well as a cocktail bar, offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. And the best about Belgrave is that it is perfect at everything it does: the coffee is excellent and the food tastes as good as it looks. The Belgrave does not have a standard menu but has different specials every week so you can discover new creations every time you go there. They play live music regularly so you should check out their Facebook-page (https://www.facebook.com/cartelmanly) for further information on specials and events.

The Manly Coffee Guild (Darley Road)

Iced Coffee at the Manly Coffee Guild_kleinThis Café is located close to ICMS, is the perfect place to meet up for coffee. They have a wide and good variety of milkshakes, iced coffees, teas and hot coffee. Nevertheless, they do not have that many choices of food, so I would not recommend going there for breakfast or lunch.

The Manly Interpolitan Café (22 Darley Road)

Also not far from the college, is a tiny and cosy coffee place with a lot of good options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff is very nice and prepares the food fresh in front of your eyes in the open kitchen. They have a good choice of desserts as well; I can definitely recommend the Belgian Waffles.
